What I love about Summer - Sarongs

Days 'till Memorial Day: 18

Days 'till A Little Light Magic: 19

Days 'till the Summer Solstice: 45

Whoever invented sarongs has my undying love and devotion.

I suspect it was some forty-ish woman who suddenly realized her legs didn't look *quite* as good as they had when she was a young thing. So she grabbed the first piece of pretty cloth she could find and...the rest is history.

For those of us who prefer not to advertise our jiggling thighs--except for that mad dash from lounge chair to ocean, lake or pool--sarongs are a godsend.

You can wrap them any which way - short or long, as a dress or as a skirt. Sarongs take the angst out of wearing a bathing suit, with patterns and colors make you feel pretty and sexy at the same time! Huzzah!

I too love sarongs and I found a new twist on them last summer....on the top of both ends of the rectangle there are arm loops so you loop an arm then cross the fabric across your body and loop the other arm and wa-la you have a dress. Wish I could draw you a picture on here.
Loving the summer thoughts!

My mom gave me a beautiful sarong. I wouldn't go to a beach or a pool without it!

I have many sarongs myself but it is not a long piece of cloth like the parau. Malaysian sarongs are like sewn together at the shorter hems so that it forms a tube. We wear it with a top called a kebaya, usually embroideried in lace patterns. Really beautiful.

I long sarongs! I wished they had them out even earlier! I used to use anything I could to make something like that but the sarongs are prettier!

I've never worn a sarong before, and sadly no I don't even own one. They do look neat and comfortable.

When I was younger I loved sarongs. Now you can't get me in anything I would use a sarong to cover.

I don't own a sarong but I definitely have to get some before it gets too warm.

Have had sarongs since the late 60's. That was many years and too many pounds ago. Bought a couple two years ago. One for my daughter to use as a sarong and mine I use for a shawl. As Estella said - I don't wear anything you would use a sarong to cover.
Happy summer.

They are pretty, but I don't own one. Really have no need for one anymore....no beach or pool :(

I love sarong's too - but I happen to think they can be pretty sexy - that idea that you show a hint of leg instead of walking around with everything out there in a bathingsuit. And there are so many ways to wear them!

I've never worn a sarong before but I do think they are very lovely to wear when you don't want to show off your legs until you want to tan.
