Joy Nash's Countdown to Summer

Days 'till Memorial Day: 24

Days 'till A Little Light Magic: 25

Days 'till the Summer Solstice: 51

Thanks for joining my "Countdown to Summer" Shoutout! It's going to be a fun party! I'll be 'shouting out' about what I love about summer, sharing some funny summer memories, posting excerpts of A Little Light Magic, and giving away lots of prizes - books and other goodies!

Summer has always been my favorite season. While spring, fall and winter have their charms, to me, summer means fun and the Jersey Shore! I've visited the shore (or, as the locals say "gone down the shore") every summer of my life. Some years, it was only for a weekend, but I still made it there. No wonder I was inspired to write a book with summer at the shore as a backdrop. A Little Light Magic truly has a special place in my heart.

Tour the Jersey Shore

You might be a long way from the Jersey Shore, but that doesn't mean you can't visit via the Internet! A Little Light Magic takes place in Margate and Atlantic City, New Jersey, which are located on the barrier island of Absecon. Hop over to my website for a tour of some quirky places on the island that have (so far) missed the wrecking ball.

Number One on the list? A six-story elephant.

Coming Tomorrow.... What I Love about Summer: School's Out!

Prizes to come...books by Joy Nash, Angie Fox, Emily Bryan, Gerri Russell...and more!

I grew up in that area, Joy, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store!

Colleen, you are so lucky! I'd have loved to live at the shore year round, instead of just visiting in the summer. In Ocean City, NJ, the high school is RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!! How cool is that?

That's very cool. Spent a lot of time at Ocean City and Wildwood in high school & college. I actually grew up 40 miles inland, in Millville. I'm making a trip there this summer and will definitely do the boardwalk (and attempt to avoid AC, which my family loves much more than I do.)

Joy I've never been to the Jersey Shores. My last vacation was 20 years ago on our 5th anniversary (don't add this up, LOL) and we went to 1000 Islands NY in Alexandra Bay NY. It was where I went a few times growing up with my step-dad. I so loved going there and taking the boat ride to Bolts Castle! There's a beautiful love story about that Castle! I can't wait to go again!

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting the Jersey Shores but I live in NYC and maybe during this summer I might give it a little visit.

Caffey - I've never been to 1000 Islands but I've heard it's beautiful.

Phoebe - I hear there's a new weekend express train service this summer from NYC to Atlantic City

I'm a long way from Jersey shore, but I grew up near a beach and it's always nice to go back in summer.
