What I love about Summer - Parades!
Happy Memorial Day!
Days 'till A Little Light Magic: 1
Days 'till the Summer Solstice: 27
Today is Memorial Day, so I'll be out at a parade this morning, waiting for all three of my kids to march by with their school bands - one clarinet, one saxophone, one bass drum. In the meantime, my husband and I will enjoy civil war re-enactors, classic cars, horses, old-time bicycle riders, clowns, Irish dancers, patriotic floats, Boy and Girl Scouts, politicians throwing candy, the local DAR chapter, and the most important parade participants of all, our local veteran groups.
Parades are fun, but let's not forget to honor the reason for the holiday today - the men and women who gave their lives for our country.
A heartfelt thanks to all veterans, especially combat veterans and the families of our fallen heroes, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.
Don't forget to stop by my Virtual Booksigning at Night Owl Romance. Here's how it works: Buy A Little Light Magic, or any of my backlist books, between Monday May 25th and Sunday May 31, send the proof of purchase to Night Owl Romance (NOT to me) per the details on the NOR webite, and receive a signed bookplate and bookmarks from me! Hi Joy:
Just so you know, I saw your information on Barbara Vey's blog!
We aren't doing the parades today. Just a quiet day at home. However, still remembering those that paid the price for our freedom.
Hello Joy,
Have fun at the parade. Our community doesn't do much for this holiday. We will be staying home and resting up for tomorrow's work day.
I did too:
Just so you know, I saw your information on Barbara Vey's blog!
Great fun on your blog.
Looks like we all read Barbara Vey's blog, but I'm also a subscriber to this blog, so I saw it twice!
I used to go to parades all of the time, but the kids are older and not as into it anymore, but I still think about our soldiers and veterans all the time. So, thanks for keeping us safe, everyone! You're a special breed.

We want be going to any parades today! We are taking up our kitchen floor and putting a new one down. My hubby is off all week so we are going to be in a big mess!
I got the scoop from Barbara's blog too. Happy Memorial Day Joy.
No parades here today. Had the ceremony at the Veterans' Hospital complex this morning. Then I took my veteran out to lunch. We stopped by the building centers and bought plants and landscaping stone. I've been weeding and planting my flower beds. The rain forced me inside - have a LOT of flower beds to go.
Will be keeping an eye out for A LITTLE LIGHT MAGIC.
Hope everyone has had a great Memorial Weekend.
Our small community doesn't do parades. They just put flags on all the veterans graves.
Hope you had a goo time at the parade!
Hope you had a great time at the parade!

Hi Joy! I wasn't on yesterday so missed you a day! We cooked out today and basically had a great lazy day! Yesterday visited with Father in Law. He loves when we all come to visit and he went to an event with his VFW today. I believe he was in World War II. Very humid day! Got hot here fast in the last few days!
I love a parade, too, except I haven't been to one in a long time. I usually work Memorial Day & I miss out on all those parades. I think the last parade I saw was in Disney many years ago.

I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend!
Just had a quite day at home with the kids. The hubby and I are both prior military and we both work at different military bases so the troops and their sacrifices are in our thoughts nearly daily.
My family and I didn't do the parade thing today. Heck I didn't know when and where it would be.
I remember marching in the parade with the school's band. It's an experience.
The parade was great! The rain that was forecasted went elsewhere. It was cute seeing the boy scouts (and their leaders) drop to the street and do 5 push-ups in front of every veteran watching the parade. (There were two WWII veterans seated near our spot)
For the rest of the weekend, I was in my garden, weeding and planting vegetables. My legs are sooooo sore now. It was better than a gym membership, I'm sure, although now I can't move without pain... but the veg garden is planted and the beds in the front yard are a lot less weedy than last week!
nothing done here either; I love parades.
My town didn't have a parade this year and I was so disappointed.
